Description
Used mainly as a screening test for steatorrhea and in the differential diagnosis of pancreatic insufficiency and fat malabsorptive syndrome.
Test Preparation Instructions : Oil containing cathartics (e.g. castor oil, mineral oil), oil-containing laxatives (e.g. liquid paraffin or Mil-Par), artificial dietary fats (e.g. Olestra), and rectal suppositories, creams and lubricants must be avoided for, at minimum, three days prior to collection. Contamination of fecal collection with urine should be avoided.
