Please fast for at least 3 hours before the test. You must not eat or drink anything, not even water.

Two to four weeks before the test, please stop taking

• Antibiotics or Pepto-Bismol® (oral bismuth subsalicylate).
• Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), such as omeprazole (Prilosec®), lansoprazole (Prevacid®), pantoprazole (Protonix®), rabeprazole (AcipHex®) esomeprazole (Nexium®), or dexlansoprazole (Dexilant®).

This is a kit that can be collected at home or at the lab. It includes a powder that you mix with water and drink, and two tubes into which you breathe.

The test includes two measurements:

• Baseline
• After drinking the C-13 urea powder mix
