Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of inherited disorders associated with a deficiency in one of the enzymes required for steroidogenesis. The formation of pregnenolone is the first step in this process. Pregnenolone is used to help in the diagnosis, monitoring and/or ruling out of some forms of CAH.
